I purchased this coffee maker over 2 years and probably closer to 3 years ago and have been very happy with it's performance. I have had no problems at all. Just like any coffee maker you have to place the carafe properly under the basket. I have only had one issue with the coffee going all over and that was when I was still half asleep and forgot to put the carafe under maker after turning it on. Wow, what a mess I had but that is something you would expect. One of the other reviews claimed that the ridges on the lid were sharp. That is not true. Perhaps he/she received a defective one. I always bought Mr. Coffee's before but got tired of having to replace them every year or so. This one has lasted and it really does keep the coffee unbelievably hot for a long time.
