I've had this coffee maker for about 4 months now, and while it does make good coffee, there are some things I think another coffee maker could do better.
The issues I've found with this model are:
1) Coffee only is really hot right after brewing. Wait a few minutes (or add milk or cream) and you have to nuke it to make it warm enough.
2) The lid to the carafe is *extremely* difficult to screw on and off, particularly between the "open/close" position and the dot (pouring opening). Ours keeps getting stuck, and it drives me crazy!
3) A little pricey for what you get (but I also bought it when it cost $60+ instead).
That said, it is very pleasant to never have to deal with a burnt cup of coffee, and the coffee maker is nice looking. If you drink your coffee black or don't mind heating it up after you add milk, you won't care about the coffee not being hot enough. The lid sticking, on the other hand, is something that will annoy everyone.
By the way, #4 coffee filters fit in the basket just fine. If your filters seem to stick out of the top a bit, try buying another brand (like Trader Joe's #4 filters), as I've found they seem to vary in height by a lot (and spare yourself the nonsense of folding/trimming/manufacturing your too big filter into something that fits better).Get more detail about Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker.
