I bought this a couple years ago when I was looking for a stainless carafe coffee maker and I'm not totally unhappy with it but I probably would buy a different one today. The price when I bought this was more like $70 or $80 too so maybe there's a reason it's cheaper now. The coffee just doesn't get hot enough from the start. If I had filtered hot water at my disposal than maybe this wouldn't be an issue but i use a brita pitcher and once I had a little bit of cream the coffee is not too hot. It's hot for about the first minute but you have to drink fast because it cools down fast and you have to add more to heat it back up. Maybe this is a problem with the carafe system but I would think a better coffee maker could do a better job. The carafe itself is great and seems to do it's job of keeping the coffee as hot as it was originally. You can program it to make coffee and hours later it will still be that same "not so hot" temperature but at least it's not cold or burning like in other makers.
