11/22/05 - I purchased this Zojirushi after reading a couple of excellent reviews and have not been disappointed. We needed to replace a Krups coffee maker with similar features that we had about 10 years. My 2 1/2 year old son broke the glass in the thermal carafe so unbreakable was a priority, especially since he insists on helping me make the coffee every morning. It has passed this first test with flying colors. I'd just like to add a couple of things to the other reviews, The #4 "gold tone" filter that we had been using in our Krups works perfectly with this coffee maker. It comes with a lift out basket which can be used with paper filters, or removed for the gold filter. It is also about as easy to clean as you are going to get. Clock is easy to read, the unit looks nice, carafe feels good in the hand, coffee stays hot. Overall a good choice that I can recommend.
4/14/06 - Five months after my initial review and this coffee maker has been a workhorse. Not one issue and coffee has been consistent. One thing I'd like to add is that it brews surprisingly quickly. Nice too that you can grab a cup while it's brewing. I've used it with #4 paper filters too and though they do stick over the top edge a bit they still work just fine - no need for scissors.
