I got this to replace a broken coffee maker. I do not know all the special things that make a good coffee maker work but I can say this unit makes good coffee. Better than the last Carafe type maker I had. Easy to use, carafe works as good or better than the last one I had. Timer works good. Everything is as it should be so far. My only complaint is as stated in other reviews I read about this coffee maker.
