I have been using this coffee maker for about a year now and am quite happy with the coffee that it brews. I'm not a coffee expert, but tasted a big difference between the department store brewers that I had been using before.
The design allows you to stir the coffee during the brewing process by flipping the lid open. Some may not see this as an advantage, but this allows the coffee grounds to be immersed in water since the hot water outlets only "irrigates" the coffee in the center of the basket. This slight flaw in design is easily overcome by stirring the coffee. One other thing that I do is to let the grounds become soaked with water before I place the carafe in place. Besides, there is something satisfying about watching the coffee bloom and the crema develope. The water comes out at 195 to 200 degrees F as recommended by most coffee experts.
It is tall so placing it under a cabinet without closing the lid is problematic.
This thing works like a charm and I have not had any of the problems that have been noted in previous reviews. They could make the pouring "dot" a bit more visible, but a dab of white "paint" can resolve this if you have trouble seeing the dot.
One slight problem that I have noted is that the carafe lid is kind of hard to clean. There have been times when I have rinsed the cap and laid it in the sink only to see some old coffee drip from the cap. Not a huge problem, but I'm pretty picky and don't want old stale coffee to ruin my new freshly brewed coffee.
I recommend this coffee maker!Get more detail about Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker.
