I've been using this machine for about a year now. I consider myself pretty picky about my coffee, and this unit has kept me happy. Keep in mind: Any thermal-carafe will NEVER give you coffee as hot as a coffeemaker with a warming plate under the pot(It's simple thermodynamics- the best you can hope for in a thermal carafe is for the coffee not to get cold too quickly). I wanted a thermal carafe because I often put up a pot of coffee and then get too busy to drink it right away, and by the time I drink it, it has a burnt taste from being heated too long. This product solves the problem. But be forewarned- if you want your coffee pipng, mouth-burning hot (like I do), you will have to pre-warm your carafe. If you wait more than 15 or 20 minutes after brewing to drink your coffee, you may also want to zap your coffee-filled mug in the microwave for a few seconds.
Having said all that, this thing makes great tasting coffee. It seems to really extract the full flavor from the coffee grounds. It does make quite a bit of noise while brewing, probably due to the high temperature of the water.
