I gave up on coffee makers a few yearws ago--started just grinding beans for just one cup at a time, and using a cup-top porcelain cone, and pouring the water from a kettle. More of a hassle, but you get a great, fresh cup of coffee every time. Then one day I bought a cheap thermal-carafe type maker that looks like this one, on impulse, from the local supermarket. It totally sucked, and the carafe was fake, with a plastic interior that didn't keep the coffee hot. It was a piece of junk, but somehow motivated me to look online for something more like what I thought I had been buying. I chose this Zoji and it is awesome. I keep the carafe at my desk, and I literally have fresh-tasting hot coffee thought the whole work day.
On the down side, it is very tall, and you have to life the lid up to fill it. This means it doesn't fit on any normal kitchen counter underneath cabinets. You need a kitchen counter spot without cabinets above it. That's the only con, though. Coffee tastes great, and amazingly, continues to taste great for hours, since it is just staying hot and not absorbing additional heat (and thereby getting cooked) from a hot plate.Get more detail about Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker.
