This coffee maker makes a good cup of coffee. I ended up returning it though for two reasons: 1. There's no end of brewing signal. This isn't a big deal but I like to know for sure when my coffee is finished brewing rather than having to keep checking. With the thermal carafe it's obviously not possible to see when it's done. And 2. The carafe seals the coffee aroma in so tightly you can't smell it at all. This is purely a personal choice thing but I enjoy smelling my coffee as it brews. It helps to wake me up in the morning! There is absolutely no coffee smell with this machine.
