Our Zoji has been our daily driver and has worked great for almost three years now. Its thermal carafe is extremely effective -- the best we've found anywhere -- *if* you preheat it with hot tap water prior to brewing. Coffee is still piping hot after several hours.
The machine does have a few negatives. It's definitely not easy to clean (the reservoir is narrow, and both the basket and lid have lots of hard to reach nooks and crannies). Also, when washing the lid, it accumulates water which is not easily removed. We resorted to drilling a tiny hole in the side of the lid (using a Dremel) to allow this water to escape.
