Thermal? Even with the extra little cap provided, the stainless steel pot keeps coffee hot about 2 hours. We had a glass thermal coffee pot before which kept the coffee hot for at least 4 hours. The lid is hard to tighten,has ridges that are very uncomfortable to turn and it's hard to tell if you have it on tight. When you pour, you can only tip it so far or it spills all over. It looks very stylish on my kitchen counter, but that's the only thing I like.
