I have had this coffee maker for over a year now with absolutely no problems. It makes great coffee that stays hot in the carafe all day, no more scorched coffee for me. You fire up a batch early morning and drink it all day.
It uses #4 filters, all you have to do is scrunch them in good and tight, no big deal.
If you are anxious for your first cup you can take out the carafe mid-brew and it doesn't leak. Just remember to line up the two dots on the screw-on carafe lid and coffee pours out like crazy, if they are not lined up it just kind of piddles out.
The carafe is hard to clean the insides, the opening is too small for your hands to get in so you have to use a brush or just stick it in the dishwasher, which works great.
The other drawback is that it is tall, so I have to pull it out from under the kitchen cabinets to fill it up. If you have low cabinets or narrow counters this could be a major hassle.
