I previously had a Krups Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker and it finally gave up the ghost. I love thermal carafes and after researching and reading reviews, I decided on the Zojirushi over the Braun. It was a tough choice, and ultimately I chose based upon appearance. I am not dissappointed the Zojirushi makes a great cup of coffee and keeps it warm for several hours. I did not experience any of the alignment problems previously mentioned. The lid does slighly bind between the closed and open positions, though applying a slight amount of additional torque takes care of the issue.
