I've had this coffeepot for about 6 months. I was looking for a thermal coffee maker (after growing tired of drinking burned coffee) and ended up with the Zojirushi because it seems to be one of the few brands that has a cone filter (my personal preference over basket filters). Overall I haven't had any problems with it and it does keep coffee hot for hours, as advertised. There are a few things I don't like about it, though they are all cosmetic:
- The filter holder is curiously undersized such that the filter sticks out about 1/8". This hasn't caused any problems, as the filter can be scrunched down, but it seems like a fundamental oversight in the design.
- The clock display is on the side, which makes it difficult to access and see.
- The caraffe is difficult to clean. I think this would be a problem with any thermal coffee maker since the mouth necessarily has to be narrow in order to have good insulation properties.
Other than those items, I am very happy with it. Potential buyers should be aware that any thermal coffee maker will not keep coffee as hot as one with a heater - so if you typically finish the coffee before it gets too old (or don't mind drinking burned coffee), it may be better to avoid a thermal coffee maker.
