This is a great product and I highly recommend it. Much better than our old Cuisinart thermal, this brews the coffee hotter and the 'shower' head water dispenser makes even cheap coffee taste better. The program function is great and the buttons are large thus, unlike the Cuisinart, I do not foresee the numbers or words wearing off with repeated use over time. My husband brews coffee at 4 a.m. and it is still hot for me at 7 a.m. There is no problem with it leaking or overflowing on the counter. In reality anyone with this complaint just isn't paying attention and is placing the carafe half way on the base. The only drawback is the lid which is flat and can bit a little annoying but not enough to worry about. I searched long and hard for a great thermal maker under $100 and am very happy with this unit. Plus it is much slimmer than other units and looks more streamlined on our counter. I have also had no problems with my gold cone filter fitting perfectly.
pause and serve is not really a good option as any professional coffee drinker will tell you the coffee that is first brewing will be much stronger than the last bit. Wait the few minutes it takes brew the whole pot and you will a much more balanced and tasty cup. The unit is no taller than my other coffee maker. I do have to pull it out from under the counter to fill with water but I believe this is the case with most models unless you are a giant and your counters are exceptionally tall.
