Functionally this works nicely and it is well designed but the coffee is a bit weak and lacking in character. We used to have a de Longhi that made really great coffee but this coffeemaker had some design flaws that resulted in the electronics getting soaked frequently. I can say now that I would probably prefer a coffee maker that is less reliable but which makes great coffee over one which produces coffee that lacks character. This is why I have tended to drive European cars too.
