Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker This instant

After a little more than a year my Cuisinart 975 died. It's a similar 12 cup stainless thermos model that was great til it began leaking like a sieve and their customer service was no help. So I decided to see what the Zoji could do. Glad I did. It has several advantages over the Cuisinart, and only the slightly smaller thermos size is a minor negative.

Pros: Great tasting coffee, but not really any better than the Cuisinart. I like the filter basket more, and the movable swing arm, and the lid opening. The basket closure is foolproof, making coffee spills impossible. (The Cuisinart closure was tricky, and if it wasn't closed properly could result in a nasty mess. It's less awkward filling the reservoir. The thermos opening is wider making cleaning easier.

Cons: The carafe lid requires a 180' counterclockwise turn from the brewing position to the pouring position, and the black on black marks are hard to see. It can give those who aren't familiar with it fits. But it seals the thermos well, and that is the secret to keeping coffee fresh and hot without a burner plate.

Bonus! The fairly expensive ($37) Cuisinart thermos WILL FIT and work just fine in the Zoji coffeemaker. So you won't have to pitch the stainless carafe if you want to keep a second one for large gatherings. Get more detail about Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker.
