I did a lot of research before ordering this coffee maker, finally selected the Zojirushi as the best value and quality for a coffee maker with a thermal carafe. I had formerly had a Bunn coffee maker, which used up electricity keeping water hot all the time for the sake of quick brewing. That was my second Bunn and, to be honest, they both ran into trouble brewing correctly, sometimes leaked, and produced a pot of coffee that was not as hot as I would have liked. I was worried that I would find even more tepid coffee (and tea) with this thermal coffee maker. However, the beverages from these (I ordered two) are exactly as hot as I would like and remain so for at least a couple of hours. Even four to five hours later, I may pour a cup of tea. It usually needs a little warming at this point, but it also isnt' burnt! Most of all, I am happy to not be using so much electricity. Not only am I not heating water all the time, but I'm not running a hot plate after brewing.
