My wife and I are coffee connoisseurs to at least a modest degree, and brew a drip pot of high quality beans unflavored, looking for the inherent aromas and complexities in the coffee. We were very happy with an old Melitta pot that finally failed, and tried several other brands to find one that would give an equally good cup. This one by Zojirushi has been just excellent right out of the box. It fits a reusable gold (Au) filter that we had perfectly, and drips the brew (we make down to 2 cups) into a large carafe that keeps the coffee very hot for a long time without additional heat. Flavor and temperature are excellent. For our tastes, coffee becomes unpleasant/undrinkable after sitting on a warming plate in most machines for less than 30 minutes. The Zojirushi's coffee is good for hours afterwards. One SMALL caveat (definitely user error) - it overflowed when I mistakenly brewed with the lid turned 90 degrees to the "Open/pour" position rather than the "Closed/brew" position.
