I must say that the coffee brewed is nice and hot and stays hot for a good while. The problems I ran into is that when the lid is tightened with hot coffee in the thermal carafe the lid becomes very heard for a person to remove due to expansion. Older persons with arthritic conditions might not be able to pour the coffee because the lid has to be loosened to pour. A more gripple lid would help solve this problem. Also the thermal carafe comes with a sort of plug that fits in the hole on top of the lid, so the coffee can fill the carafe when brewing. If you loose this plug the coffee does not stay hot as long.
