Honestly, I had given up. The Krups died, the Cuisinart went up in flames, Mr. Coffee peed on my counter and every coffee maker I bought conspired to create a mess in my kitchen! We do not use the coffee maker but on rare occasions - company, etc. so I did not think I could have worn them out.
In an effort to get the most durable, tough, simple and dependable coffee maker, I did a ton of research. This ZOJIRushi did not disappoint and it is a miracle of simplicity and low-key design. Coffee stays hot all day and does not have some extra hot plate for no reason. With this thermal pot, it just does not need it. It's speedy, efficient and well made. I recommend getting a metal filter - save all the paper ones!!!
Also - this is the ONLY coffee maker I have owned where you can readily view if the water has been poured in - ready for coffee - there is a CLEAR (not semi-opaque...like most models) with FLOAT!!!! It tell you exactly what amount of water you have!! Why doesn't everyone do that??
It's a great coffee maker - especially for the money - I would buy another one - hopefully not for a few years though! Ha!
